Can I Test Continuity With Fluke T61000

Product overview: Fluke T6-1000 Electrical Tester

Measure voltage without test leads

The Fluke T6-1000 Electrical Tester with FieldSense™ technology lets you quickly, safely take True rms voltage and current measurements without test leads.

Unlike other fork testers that merely detect voltage, the T6-1000 makes actual measurements, without contacting a live, metallic conductor. Just slide the 17.8 mm open fork, the widest in the industry, over a conductor and read simultaneous voltage and current values. Or simultaneous frequency and current values. The open fork works with wires up to AWG 4/0 (120 mm2). Or, you can use the attached test leads to measure voltage DC to 1000 V.

  • True rms voltage and current to 200 A AC, 1000 V AC
  • Resistance 1 Ω to 100 kΩ

Work on any jobsite

Make use of the HOLD button to temporarily freeze the reading on the screen so you can keep working with the same measurement up. Plus, the display features large, easy-to-read numbers and a backlight for darker work environments or inside cabinets. The T6-1000 works with the Fluke TPACK ToolPak™ Magnetic Meter Hanger to make it even more convenient.

How FieldSense™ technology works

FieldSense ™ technology is different than other open fork testers work by interpreting a magnetic field to show AC current. FieldSense™ detects an electrical field that interacts with a T6 reference signal, showing a voltage value on the tester's display.

Accuracy[1]: ± ( [ % of reading] + [number of least significant digits] ). Accuracy is specified for 1 year after calibration, at 18 °C to 28 °C (64 °F to 82 °F) with relative humidity to 90 %. AC measurements are ac-coupled, RMS responding.
Accuracy[2]: Add 3 % without an external ground connection. External ground connection required for user wearing insulated gloves, standing on an insulated ladder, or otherwise insulated from earth ground.
Accuracy[3]: FieldSense is specified from 16 V to 100 % of range.

Reviews: Fluke T6-1000 Electrical Tester

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeping up with the times Such a pleasure to get touchless volts, hertz and amps. The new duel reading display is also nice. Keeping up with technology - thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for everyday trouble shooting Use thus on a daily basis. Field sense gives you volts and amps with exposing the joints. A real time saver!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Equal to the T5, but lacking. The T6-1000 works as well as the T5-1000 that I have used for 20 years in all the features and regards that are the same between the two meters. However, the no contact voltage detecting feature is not consistent nor accurate in determining whether a circuit is hot or not. I have always carried a Fluke 2AC in my breast pocket and continue to do so. The Fluke 2AC is not complicated or multi featured. It detects voltage with a red light as an indicator, period. No sound, no other meanings. If you have a red light, you have power, period. The T6-1000 was as pricy and I splurged on the upgrade, in retrospect, I would recommend sticking with the Fluke T5-1000 as the added features are not all that they are cracked up to be.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fluke T6-1000 It's great to have a test instrument that can measure voltage & current simultaneously, while not being fearful of an arching situation. Safety is perhaps the greatest advantage of using this tool. My only complaint so far is not understanding why I consistently get different DC voltage readings, depending on the polarity of the test leads. For ex., reading -9v vs +8v on a 9v battery and -29v vs +27v on a DC power supply. Why should the polarity of the test leads matter? I get identical DC readings regardless of test lead polarity when using my standard Fluke DDM. Do I have a faulty T6-1000?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from buy the t5 I have owned it for a year now the field sense is dangerously unreliable all other features work very well

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Is this T6-1000 supporting True-RMS? I would like to know is this T6-1000 (and T6-600) supporting True-RMS or Averaging only?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does everything it says it will do It does everything that it says it will do, and it hasn't broken in the 3 years i've been abusing it. Good enough for me.
